Question & Answers
- Can each library have a separate PayPal account or is there one for the system?
A-G: Yes, each member library can have their own PayPal account…also we can link to other payment systems.
- Is there a mobile app version of the patron catalog?
A-G: The catalog is responsive to the screen size of the user, so that the layout maximizes the available screen real estate.
- So there’s no offline mode?
A-G:
- What provisions are those for transactions when the internet is down?
A-G: Our pages are completely responsive for any device. We do not offer a mobile app but can work with many third-party apps available in the industry.
- Do you mean an offline version if they internet is not available?
A-G: Yes, we have an offline version which will sink once the internet is available.
- We are not demoing if in the interest of time, but it is a standalone application that allows for checkout and check-in
A-G: The VERSO Standalone Circulation module is a Windows client application that allows for offline performance of basic circulation activities (check out and check in). The Standalone Circulation module logs check out and check in transactions for subsequent upload to your library’s VERSO database.
- If a patron claims return does the system calculate the date returned or do staff have leeway? Does it stop fine?
A-G: The system records the date of the transaction on the day the claim is made. The staff may edit the fine amount, including setting it to $0.00, as long as they have the circ override password.
- Are the circ settings configured at a per library level or can the settings be applied system wide or inherited amongst a group of libraries?
A-G: There are 3 levels of settings for most circ policies. Think of it as System, Library, and Branch levels. Lower levels inherit higher level settings unless they are specified to be different.
- Can labels be customized per library for each field?

A-G: Yes, those labels can be set at the library level. As we are consortia based, we understand how each library will need to label things locally.
- Can alerts trigger a sound if there is a sound card in workstation?
A-G: Circulation settings can be at the library level. In TN statewide system they are all separate legal entities. It is a requirement.
A-G: Yes, we have various sounds that can be used.
- Can various item types be protected from transit?
A-G: Yes, this is possible
- Is the system RFID enabled?
A-G: Yes, we have RFID implementations.
- Do you work with all RFID or just select vendors?
A-G: We work with any vendor
- Can you support a float collection?
A-G: Yes, we work with all vendors. Yes, we have simple floating and a smart floating module. The smart has more settings to allow how items are allowed to sit at locations.
- Can reports do a subset of the union that is user defined on the fly?
A-G: Yes, reports feature dynamic filtering that facilitates on the fly user defined subsets.
- Can you do a custom date report?
A-G: Yes, the reports facilitate custom date ranges.
- Is there any way to create custom reports in the system?
A-G: LISTit is our newly developed report writer that facilitates ad hoc reporting. The tool allows users to create custom queries executed against the database, resulting in a list of records. The list of records can then be downloaded, analyzed, batch updated, placed in a carousel or saved for review later.
- Will this provide an average publication date for all materials (or by subset such as fiction/nonfiction) owned by a library?
A-G: The bibliographic statistics report provides the breakdown of the collection based on publication dates and is displayed in a range of decades and centuries. The average publication date of all materials is not included in this report.
