Hosting Solutions and Library Consulting has been retained by the Delaware Division of Libraries to deliver a model collection development policy template for Delaware schools, in accordance with HB 119. The collection development policy template will include guidelines for the selection, deselection, and reconsideration of school library materials. The goal for this work is to guarantee the rights of Delaware’s students to have access to diverse materials from a wide range of viewpoints, selected by trained, certified librarians based on their professional expertise. We recognize that the school library must reflect the needs of its students and their curriculum, without being subject to external pressure.
This survey is for us to learn about the situations school librarians face in the selection of materials, acquisitions, and/or responding to challenges to collection content. This confidential form is our tool to collect anonymous feedback in these areas.
